Listen instead of reading
Great for proofreading, accessibility, or learning pronunciation. The Listen button uses your device's natural voices; the Download button generates a WAV file entirely offline. Nothing is ever uploaded.
Adjust the voice for the task
Use a slower rate when proofreading punctuation or following unfamiliar material. A modestly faster rate can work for reviewing text you already know. Voice availability depends on the browser and operating system, and some voices are downloaded by the device only after you select them. If playback stops, try a shorter passage or choose another installed voice.
Why does the downloaded voice sound different?
For privacy and security, browsers block saving the system's natural voices to a file. The download therefore uses a small built-in synthesizer that runs offline.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Both playback and download happen entirely in your browser.
