Generate unique identifiers in bulk
A UUID is a 128-bit value designed to be unique without any central authority handing them out — two systems can each create one and safely assume they will never collide. That makes them ideal for database keys, request IDs, filenames, and anything that needs a label guaranteed not to clash. This tool produces version-4 (random) UUIDs, one or many at a time.
How to use it
- Choose how many UUIDs you need.
- Generate them.
- Copy one, or the whole list, into your code or data.
Where UUIDs fit
- Primary keys that can be created offline or across multiple services.
- Correlation IDs for tracing a request through logs.
- Unique filenames that will never overwrite each other.
Questions people ask
Could two generated UUIDs ever match? The odds are astronomically small — version 4 draws from so many random bits that a collision is, in practice, impossible.
Are they generated securely? They use your browser's cryptographic random source, and nothing is sent anywhere.
